Benchmarking serves not only as an important management tool
for modern enterprises in pursuing outstanding performance
but also a vital role in enhancing a country’s competitiveness.
Some major trustworthy and outstanding organizations, such
as American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC), and Asian
Productivity Organization (APO) are providing
assistance in enhancing their member countries’ competitiveness.
In APO’s regular annual meetings, they would invite well-performing
companies and benchmarked companies to participate in their
seminars, in which members can have experience exchange. In
2000, APO also set up the Best Practice Network. The annually
held seminar serves as a benchmarking exchange platform for
all member countries.
In order to help domestic companies to implement benchmarking,
improve industry potential, the Department of Industrial Technology
(DOIT), Ministry of Economic Affairs authorized Chinese Productivity
Center to establish this database website. The DOIT also invite
professionals in the field to establish a tailor-made benchmarking
platform, for the competitiveness of domestic industries to
promote multilateral experience exchange between corporations
and international benchmark industries to obtain the best
practice within and outside our country. Furthermore, it is
our hope that, through the process and practice of benchmarking,
we are able not only to facilitate the competitiveness of
domestic enterprises, but also to take one step further in
facilitating overall competitiveness of the country and closing
up the gap between domestic enterprises and world-class corporations.
