Position Rotating Benchmarking
It is obvious to all the achievement Tong Yang Group reached in its global arrangement. Wu said that Tong Yang has its own standards in choosing talents, career planning, education training, position rotation and passing on technology. They train their own lecturers to train employees.   .can one acquire promotion or a raise. Each step of training is designed to enhance employees' quality and techniques. "Employees are a business's most important assets. Tong Yang is seeking globalization and an international view; therefore, employees are required to possess more knowledge and core technology to be able to discuss and communicate with international businesses. That is also why I implement the position rotation system. Positions within our company can be adjusted as long as the application is approved. The whole process is about transparency, passing experiences to new comers and sharing power. Even if an employee is transferred to another subsidiary, his position can be immediately replaced by others. This also means the operation of the group can broaden employees' vision," said Wu. He gave the example of the present general manager of Kai Yi Industrial Co. Ltd., who was transferred from Tong Yang Industrial Co. Ltd.

 

In addition, Tong Yang Group established the research and development center. It mission is to promote material and technological innovation, develop labor-saving and automated facilities. This center has reached great achievements: such as, employment of Ultrasonic Lace Sewing machines and Instrument Cluster Flame Treatment Machines. It also fosters technology exchange and cooperation with major international businesses through exchanging each party's experiences in developing technologies and know-how. Under the Total Quality System, Tong Yang's products have been certified to meet all of the CAPA (Certified Automotive Parts Association) quality standards. "Tong Yang has long valued research and development, and it was mainly because our founder was an inventor himself, who passed on this culture in this company," as he smiled and talked about his father who was persistent in invention.

 

Cultivating Localization While Promoting Globalization
Tong Yang Group now has 1,800 major clients in 170 countries. In 2004, in addition to its established markets (North America, Europe, Mainland China and South East Asia), Tong Yang is estimating the possibility of entering some new markets (India, Pakistan and Russia). Wu said that Tong Yang will put its focus on the AM market, because AM market is growing steadily, with an annual growth rate of more than 10%.

 

 

Wu also mentioned that the subsidiaries in China are expected to list in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The Tong Yang subsidiary, which has the best performance, will get listed first. After the Chinese Stock Exchange is better developed, Tong Yang would list each subsidiary individually. Furthermore, Wu disclosed that it is expected that Tong Yang will get listed in the United States soon, so that the American public can have a better understanding of Taiwanese businesses and thus further expand the AM market.

Last, Wu believes that the focus of benchmarking should lie on establishing the core values of the business. Only through doing so can companies fully carry out their strategies, maximize their competitiveness and thus create more business opportunities.
